Participant requirements

As this is a social paddle, there will be no water safety on the day. Therefore, all participants must be advanced ocean paddlers with proven experience in open ocean conditions over marathon distances.

While this event is social, it will be competitive, with each participant paddling at his or her own pace. Therefore, you must be fully self-sufficient and compliant with recreational boating safety standards. This means you must carry, as a minimum:

  • 1 x waterproof buoyant torch
  • 2 x handheld orange smoke flares
  • 2 x handheld red distress flares
  • 1 x compass
  • 1 x approved EPIRB
  • PFD
  • Boat leash
  • Paddle leash
  • Mobile phone in waterproof casing
  • Enough nutrition and water for eight hours
  • Appropriate clothing to suit conditions - we strongly recommend you bring a windproof jacket or cag in case conditions change.

Outlaw Paddling has a limited number of flares and EPIRBS available on the day. If you need assistance in acquiring these items, please email jarad@outlawpaddling.com

We are allowing up to eight hours for the slowest paddler, so be prepared for a long (but thrilling) day out on the water.

Getting there and back

Participants are required to meet at the nominated starting point at 7.45am for a briefing at 8am. The paddle will start at 8.30am sharp.

Outlaw Paddling will be transporting one bag per paddler (dry clothes etc.) to the finishing point, and providing transport back to your cars at the starting point.

How to enter

Please RSVP by emailing jarad@outlawpaddling.com no later than Wednesday 4th April.

C'mon - we dare you!
